Aperture No.1 explores the relationship between form and space.

The ring is shaped around a central opening, an aperture, where solid material meets negative space. The result is a sculptural object that frames the skin beneath it, allowing light and shadow to move through the form as the hand moves.

Cast in mineral composite, each ring develops its own flowing mineral pattern during the casting process. Subtle veining forms naturally within the material, creating surfaces that resemble marble, sediment or carved stone. No two pieces resolve in exactly the same way.

The form itself is deliberately generous. The sculptural band gives the ring presence on the hand while softened edges allow it to sit comfortably when worn. It behaves somewhere between jewellery and small-scale sculpture, an object designed to be lived with rather than simply worn.

Aperture No.1 is released as a limited studio edition of thirty pieces. Each ring is cast and hand finished in the Guseli Design studio in Hervey Bay, Australia.

Details

Collection: Aperture Series
Edition: Limited studio release of 30 pieces
Material: Cast mineral composite
Finish: Hand sanded and sealed
Origin: Designed and cast in Hervey Bay, Australia

Each ring carries its own mineral pattern formed during casting. No two pieces are identical.

Dimensions

Ring size: Australian P–Q
Inside diameter: approximately 18.1–18.5 mm
Band width: approximately 18–22 mm

Measurements are approximate. Each piece is individually cast and hand finished, so slight variations in form and mineral pattern will occur.

Fit

Best suited to medium fingers.

Due to the sculptural width of the band, the ring may feel slightly firmer than a narrow band.

Studio Process

Each Aperture ring is cast individually rather than produced through mass manufacturing.

During casting, mineral pigments move naturally through the material, forming subtle veining and internal movement. These patterns cannot be precisely controlled or repeated, meaning every ring becomes a singular object with its own character.

This natural variation is part of the work itself.

Care

Your ring is durable but should be treated as a sculptural object.

Avoid harsh chemicals and prolonged exposure to water.
If the surface becomes dull over time, a light polish with a soft cloth will restore the finish.

Packaging

Each piece is carefully wrapped and shipped from the studio.

Limited Edition Note

Limited studio release of 30 pieces in this mineral tone.
