About Botanical Skincare Lab
Botanical Skincare Lab is an Australian studio creating luxury botanical skincare and handcrafted design objects, developed with clarity, discipline and long-term use in mind.

The studio works across two connected practices:
science-led skincare formulation and Guseli Design objects. Both are developed side by side, shaped by the same principles of material understanding, proportion and everyday function.
Rather than producing for trend or excess, the studio focuses on creating fewer, better things — skincare and objects designed to be used, lived with and valued over time.

The Studio Approach
Every product and object developed at Botanical Skincare Lab begins with use.
Skincare is formulated to be effective, well-balanced and appropriate for regular, long-term application. Design objects are created with equal care, considering weight, surface, balance and how they sit within daily life.
This shared approach allows the studio to move seamlessly between formulation and form, treating skincare and object design not as separate disciplines, but as parts of a single, considered practice.
Meet The Team
Kim Guseli
Founder and Cosmetic Chemist
Botanical Skincare Lab was founded by Kim Guseli, an award-winning cosmetic chemist with a hands-on approach to formulation and product development.
​
Kim formulates every product herself within the studio, working directly with raw materials, textures and performance. Rather than outsourcing formulation, each product is developed to address real-world skincare questions, including how to support sensitive skin, reduce unnecessary waste, and create routines that are effective without being excessive.
Her work is guided by a balance of science, care and responsibility. Formulas are developed to perform well over time, prioritising skin health, material understanding and sustainability in practice rather than promise.
Alongside skincare formulation, Kim also develops Guseli Design objects within the same studio. This shared approach reflects a broader philosophy: that well-made products and objects should earn their place through usefulness, clarity and longevity.
When not in the studio, Kim’s life is shared with her husband and two dachshunds, Lucia and Dexter. A reminder that the work created here is designed for real homes and everyday use.

Dachshund IVDD Support
Here’s a bit of the behind-the-scenes about why we love and proudly support Dachshund IVDD Support Australia.
Through the education of Dachshund IVDD Support Australia we knew straight away what to do when our precious Lucia was suddenly struck with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) and was paralysed overnight in December 2018.
We were aware that 1 in 4 dachshunds will be diagnosed with a back condition during their lifetime so we did everything we could to avoid it. We have never allowed Dexter and Lucia jump on furniture, always used ramps, kept them healthy etc. But unfortunately, sometimes even though all precautions are taken, it still strikes.
If it hadn’t been for the ongoing awareness campaigns of Dachshund IVDD Support Australia we wouldn’t have been as prepared, and would have been lost without their support during the heart-wrenching time.
Through our social media pages we will be sharing more about Lucia’s journey and the support from the Dachshund IVDD Support Australia. We are grateful every day for their care, love and guidance.

Guseli Design is the object and form practice of Botanical Skincare Lab.

Each piece is studio-made in Australia as part of a small production process. Subtle variations in surface and finish are a natural outcome of this approach and are considered part of the work.
Objects are defined by clarity of form and a focus on how they are used rather than displayed. They are created to sit comfortably in everyday life, offering permanence, balance and restraint.
